With the scoreboard reading 107-104, it was evident that the match was quite closely fought. However, things could have gone wrong for the Hawks, given Trae Young’s perplexing play.
During a point in the game, Trae Young dribbled past the Hornets’ defense swiftly. Getting within the shooting distance, everyone expected the Hawks’ star to pull the trigger. Surprisingly, Young ignored the opportunity as he passed the ball to his fellow mates in search of an assist. Such a play took even the commentators by surprise. They exclaimed why Young hesitated to take the shot.

Now, things went worse for the Hawks as in the midst of this, the time ran out without them scoring. Adding to their frustration, the shot clock violation from the Hawks took place not once but twice during the game. Quite expectedly the fans were not impressed with the play. As a result, they called out Trae Young for his baffling play.

The Hawks guard has an ongoing 5-assist streak of over 180 games, and during their road trip to Cleveland, Young made 22 assists. Trae Young finished the game against the Hornets with 14 points, five assists, and four rebounds. However, fans were surely not impressed by how Young looked to maintain his streak.

Surely, Young is facing the heat for his controversial decision. However, whether he was truly trying to build up on his numbers is something that hasn’t been confirmed. Luckily for the NBA athlete, Hawks’ victory has masked some of the outrage. Now it will be interesting to see whether the 26-year-old changes his approach in the upcoming games.
