The Charlotte Hornets are dealing with another tough injury after forward Grant Williams hurt his knee in the final moments of their 125-119 loss to the Milwaukee Bucks on Saturday night. The injury happened when Williams was driving to the basket and collided with Bucks center Brook Lopez. After losing his balance, he grabbed his knee and went down.
A slow-motion replay showed just how bad it looked. Williams had to be helped off the court and didn’t return to the game. After the game, Hornets head coach Charles Lee confirmed the injury but didn’t provide many details. “It’s just been diagnosed right now as a knee injury. We’ll continue to get some imaging and some evaluations. The most important thing is that all of our prayers are with Grant, and we hope that some of the news comes back as good as possible,” Lee said.

Before going down, Williams had put up 8 points, 7 rebounds, 2 assists, and 1 block in 32 minutes. His absence hurt the Hornets, especially since LaMelo Ball had an incredible 50-point performance, but the team still fell to the Bucks.
This injury is just the latest challenge for the Hornets, who are already dealing with Miles Bridges being out for a week with a knee problem and no true center available. While the frontcourt is thin, there’s some hope on the horizon with Mark Williams and Nick Richards getting closer to returning. The Hornets will need to lean even more on their young guys, with players like Ball and Brandon Miller stepping up lately.
Hornets’ Frontcourt Depth Faces Another Test After Grant Williams’ Injury
Losing Williams could make things even harder for the Hornets since their frontcourt is already running pretty thin. With Bridges also sidelined, the team has fewer options, and though they’re hoping Williams’ injury isn’t as bad as it looks, they’ll have to prepare for a stretch without him.
This injury is raising some concerns about the Hornets’ season. Despite the setbacks, the team has shown some bright spots, with Ball’s 50-point game and Miller’s career-high 38 points against the Pistons showing that the young core is starting to click. The Hornets are still hoping to stay competitive, but Williams’ health and the rest of the team’s injured players will be crucial moving forward.

For now, the Hornets are waiting for more imaging to figure out the full extent of Williams’ injury. Fans and teammates are hoping for the best, but the team’s immediate future will depend on how they adjust to yet another key player potentially being out.
