This season will mark the final year of the iconic commentary team of Charles Barkley, Kenny Smith, Shaquille O’Neal, and Ernie Johnson on Inside The NBA. It came after the league announced an 11-year media rights deal with Disney, NBC, and Amazon.
The group has become a fan favorite for basketball analysis, humor, and chemistry over the years. Shaq joined the team in the 2011-12 season and turned into a key figure in the award-winning show.
During a recent episode of The OGs, Shaq opened up about the uncertainty surrounding the future of the show. However, he is excited about the upcoming season. The former NBA star teased that it will be one to remember, especially with the personalities involved.
“I have to be a consummate professional, so we definitely have one year left. And they’re working on some things; that’s all I’m at liberty to say. In a perfect world, I would love for us to stay together forever, but it’s in the hands of the powers right now,” Shaq said.
“But this last year is gonna be a phenomenal year; you know Chuck is gonna go crazy, I’m gonna go crazy. It’s gonna be fun. Hopefully this is not the last year,” he added.

“We all know Boston had the easiest run ever to that championship. Can they back it up? That’s all. Can you back it up? Okay, you had the easy run; it doesn’t matter. Can you back it up? What you gonna do, Philly? Paul George? Joel Embiid? What you gonna do, Milwaukee? Orlando, what y’all gonna do? Miami? So in the East, I’m looking forward to that story,” Shaq said.
The Celtics’ championship victory marked their 18th title, allowing them to surpass the Los Angeles Lakers as the team with the most championships in NBA history. With this accomplishment in mind, the Celtics are set to begin their new season on October 4 against the Denver Nuggets.
