The NBA has pickup lines, too, but only if you are Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. The Oklahoma City Thunder star is getting compliments from the basketball community, which is becoming more evident.
During a recent game, Gilgeous-Alexander had one of the sweetest fan interactions. While signing jerseys and caps on the sideline after the game, SGA had one fan recite a poem. However, it did not end well for the enthusiastic Thunder supporter, as Shai threw out his most honest reaction to the poem.
“Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, oh how sweet, if you score over 30, I will give you a treat,” the fan said in his poem. Interestingly, he went on to ask for a review from the NBA star, saying, “Was that tough?”
Bro told SGA the cringiest poem ever 🤣

“Terrible,” Gilgeous-Alexander said while passing by with a smile on his face.
However, apart from all these funny interactions, Shai’s performance has upped to a seriously impressive level. He has been on an absolute tear lately, and it’s no surprise that his MVP odds have taken a big jump. With his incredible play, he’s now the favorite to win the NBA MVP award at +125, just edging out Nikola Jokic, who sits at +135.

Although he already has a Player of the Month award for October and November, Gilgeous-Alexander was absolutely on fire this past week. He is leading the Thunder to a perfect 4-0 record while averaging an unbelievable 38.8 points per game. He also contributed 6.5 rebounds, 6.0 assists, and 4.3 steals. All while shooting 63% from the floor, 40% from behind the arc, and an incredible 97% from the free-throw line.
When you take a look at his numbers, it’s hard to argue against the claim that he’s having a season worthy of MVP recognition. As we head into January, he’s also a strong contender for the upcoming Player of the Month award, especially after averaging 32.8 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 5.5 assists throughout December.
