After Bronny James’ lackluster start with the Los Angeles Lakers, JJ Redick recently sent the Lakers rookie to play in G-League. In his debut game with the South Bay Lakers, Bronny displayed a below-average game that garnered criticism from the fans.
Despite the scrutiny, one of Bronny’s teammates, rookie guard Quincy Olivari, quickly backed him up. Olivari admired Bronny’s ability to handle the pressure and prove himself in court.
“To have Bronny out there looking like he did. I was just happy to see him get out there and show the world that can play. I’m a big advocate on pushing that he’s a great basketball player and that the criticism he gets is unfair,” said Olivari.
“But to see him go out there and have fun along with Max Lewis to go out there and show that he can also hoop too, it was just great to see,” he added.
Bronny James’ debut game saw South Bay’s 110-96 win over the Salt Lake City Stars. Olivari scored a game-high 28 points while adding ten rebounds and six assists. On the other hand, Bronny registered 6 points, four assists, and three rebounds in the win.

Even before stepping onto the court, Bronny’s debut created a frenzy, with tickets to the game selling out almost immediately. On the secondary market, the cheapest ticket for his debut game was listed at $200.
