The Philadelphia 76ers made headlines this offseason by acquiring Paul George in a blockbuster trade. The move formed a highly anticipated trio with Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey, raising expectations for a dominant season. However, the reality has fallen short. Injuries to Embiid, George, and Maxey have disrupted the team’s rhythm, contributing to a disappointing 15-21 record so far.
The struggles were evident in the 76ers’ recent 123-115 loss to the New Orleans Pelicans. In the game, Embiid’s absence left a significant void. After the defeat, George openly expressed his frustrations with his role on the court when the star center wasn’t available.
“It’s different. I’m used to scrapping and running around and chasing, fighting through screens. To be honest, I’m bored. Playing on a five just don’t do enough for me,” George said.

“But, I think, being mindful of my ability to clog the middle and help and cut off passing lanes and driving lanes, kind of battling with the bigs, is what Nick sees in that style. But I enjoy chasing the little guys and matching up against a wing,” he added.
Paul George Pushes Sixers To Adapt Without Joel Embiid
Paul George has made it clear that the 76ers need to adapt their approach as they continue to face challenges this season. Speaking about the team’s performance without Joel Embiid, George stated Embiid’s importance but stressed the need for adjustments when he’s unavailable.
“We’re definitely better with Joel out there. We’re better with the big guy in the lineup with us. But I think through it all, we’ve had some—I think KO (Kelly Oubre Jr.) missed a game or two in that, and Kyle (Lowry) has been in and out. Like, we’ve had a lot of guys in and out of the lineups during that stretch. But I think it comes down to us playing a little faster. We gotta play at a faster pace,” George said.

George’s call for a faster play style may be the spark they need to turn their season around. Whether or not the team can make the necessary adjustments remains to be seen.
