As he embarks on this new chapter, Beverley recently shared some candid thoughts on Tuesday’s episode of his podcast, ‘Pat Bev Pod’, about why many NBA superstars shy away from head coaching roles. He stated the challenge of coaching superstars who might not respect a coach’s authority if they haven’t experienced the same level of success.
“I ain’t gonna lie. It’s a lot of players scared of head coaching. When you’re a coach, especially a coach that won and you come to a team where [players] that ain’t won before, it’s like, ‘I don’t have to listen to you… I won! Y’all haven’t,’” Beverley said.
“You’d be wondering, like, man why the coach didn’t come here. Yeah, that superstar is scared of that,” he concluded.

Patrick Beverley played with the Los Angeles Lakers during the 2022–23 season. The former Lakers star recently shared an interesting revelation on his podcast, “Pat Bev Pod.”
Beverley disclosed that former Lakers coach Darvin Ham had apologized to him. The apology came after Beverley suggested that the team should practice more frequently, but Ham initially didn’t take it seriously.
