Kevin Durant of the Supersonics or Kevin Durant of the Warriors? Which version of KD was more lethal? That’s a common debate in the NBA forums. Kevin Durant is a top 10 of this era, but to some, the Suns forward is not even in the top 20. Chris Broussard falls under that second category.
During a recent episode of “First Things First,” the Fox network analyst raised questions over KD’s current legacy and speculated about what could’ve been. Broussard said, “If he had stayed in Golden State, he might have four rings, maybe three or four finals, MVP’s and people are actually talking about him as maybe a top 10 player of all time instead of Steph. Some might be arguing him or LeBron. I don’t know, but this era would be LeBron KD era, maybe the LeBron KD Steph era. You know what it is now? Because he left Golden State, it’s the LeBron Steph era. KD’s not in the era.”
He took issue with host Nick Wright’s take that Durant is in the top 20 players of all time. Broussard added, “I don’t think he’s firmly in the top 20 players of all time. And it is, and the reason I say that is because he hasn’t proven he can lead a team to a championship.”
Certainly, Durant failed to do so during his days with the Nets and last season with the Suns. After the post-season ended early for Durant and Co., speculations started building over his future, and thus far, he has kept everything under wrap.
What Is Kevin Durant’s Status With Suns?
Reports have emerged surrounding Kevin Durant’s future with the franchise. While the 35-year-old has not signaled to leave Pheonix yet, the possibilities could not be ruled out.
The most probable landing spot for KD could be the Rockets, who are reportedly in “Win Now” mode. According to Adrian Wojnarowski, the Suns could be forced into submission by the Rockets to trade Durant by returning their lost draft picks during the 2-time NBA champion’s move last summer.

There were also noises about a potential return to the Golden State Warriors, but for now, that has subsided. That could again pick up pace when the USAB men’s team leaves for the Paris Olympics. With Durant playing with Stephen Curry again in the USA colors, nostalgia can alter KD’s mind for the rest of the summer.
