Stephen A. Smith is known for his unique takes on critical matters of the NBA. More often than not, Smith’s smart choice of words has also proved to be a lethal weapon in silencing his critics. However, in a recent interaction on First Take, Smith received a strong response from one of the hosts, Molly Qerim. Apparently, Qerim was frustrated by Smith’s inclination towards the big transfers while undermining smaller markets.
“It’s not sexy enough for you… Stephen A. is all box office; he wants every free agent to go to the Lakers; he hates small markets… Every time there’s a good player in Milwaukee or wherever, you’re like, ‘Bring him to New York, go to the Knicks, go to the Lakers, let’s have LeBron [James] and Steph [Curry] play together,” lashed out Qerim.

Now, Qerim might not be entirely wrong here. Smith recently expressed significant interest in the prospect of LeBron James pairing up with Steph Curry. While the Warriors did approach James earlier for a trade, the NBA legend declined the invitation. However, ahead of the transfer window, Smith tossed around the idea of the two teaming up while calling it ‘special.’ Meanwhile, the renowned commentator recently made a controversial take on Bronny James getting drafted by the Lakers.
Stephen A. Smith Says Bronny James Pick Was A ‘Favor’
History was made when LeBron James paired up with Bronny James in a historic NBA moment. This was the first time a father-son duo took to the court in a regular season game. However, while the moment went viral instantly, Stephen A. Smith did not seem impressed. He believed that the Lakers had done a ‘favor’ by acquiring the 20-year-old Bronny James.

"Theres no question it was a favor, Bronny James did not do what it takes to earn a spot on an NBA roster" pic.twitter.com/5284IUZUCY
“Let’s cut the BS—there’s no question this was a favor… Bronny James did not do what it takes to earn a spot on an NBA roster,” said Smith on the ‘Full Send’ podcast. He also opined that the Lakers wanted LeBron to be committed to the team, so they took Bronny under their wing. Thus, with controversies becoming a norm for Smith, it remains to be seen what interesting things the commentator will come up with in the future.
