The Dallas Mavericks and the Los Angeles Lakers have created a buzz across the league with their surprising trade. In a stunning move, the Mavericks sent their superstar Luka Doncic to the Lakers in exchange for Anthony Davis. This monumental transaction effectively dismantled the dynamic partnership that Doncic had established with Kyrie Irving.
Doncic missed several games for the Mavericks due to injury before his trade to the Lakers. However, after his departure, the Mavericks returned to action and contested two games. Recently, they faced off against the Philadelphia 76ers at the Wells Fargo Center. In the aftermath of the game, Irving took a moment to share his insights regarding Doncic’s trade during a post-game interview.
“Just really shocked and just don’t imagine that you’re going to get ready to go to sleep and then find out news like that. So, still a grieving process right now,” Irving said.

Irving put forth an impressive performance in the recent game against the 76ers, scoring 34 points, recording four assists, and grabbing nine rebounds in 42 minutes of play. Unfortunately, despite his efforts, the team fell short, and the 76ers secured a narrow victory with a final score of 118-116.
Kyrie Irving Expresses His Thoughts On The Luka Doncic Trade
Irving and Doncic had an incredible time together on the court. The 32-year-old guard joined the Mavericks on February 6, 2023, in a significant trade between the Mavericks and the Brooklyn Nets. During the last NBA season, the dynamic duo of Irving and Doncic led the Mavericks to the NBA Finals last season, although they ultimately lost to the Boston Celtics. Doncic’s trade came as a shock to the entire NBA community, including Irving. In a recent interview, the Mavericks guard expressed that he will miss Doncic.
“Miss my hermano [Luka Doncic], we had a lot of time together, Kieff [Markieff Morris] too, Maxi [Kleber]. We just built some bonds that went beyond the basketball court. If anybody can understand that home when someone or a few people leave in a trade, it’s going to be difficult, and that’s what we’re dealing with right now, but this is a business,” Irving said.
