Luka Doncic set the Paycom Center on fire with his outstanding performance in Game 5 of the semifinal series between the Dallas Mavericks and Oklahoma City Thunder amid injury concerns. The Mavs guard created some highlight-worthy moments on Wednesday that have amazed the hard-to-impress NBA community.
One of them was in the second quarter when Doncic ran up with the ball towards the opposite side of the court, and on spotting teammate Dereck Lively II near the basket, he went for a flawless alley-oop from beyond midway. The center turned Doncic’s picture-perfect pass into a basket with his marvelous dunk. The scoreboard read Mavericks at 35 and OKC at 27, with more than 9 minutes left in the quarter.
Luka’s remarkable pass from beyond the half-court soon started surfacing on social media and the fans went gaga over it. Here’s what they commented when the NBA’s X (formerly known as Twitter) handle posted it:

After a disappointing loss in the previous game, the Mavericks looked rock-solid throughout Game 5, giving no opportunity to the Thunder to outscore them and finishing with a 104-92 win. Despite having a strong offensive lead, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, who bagged another 30 points, the OKC couldn’t snatch the win. Whereas, the Mavs were the more confident side on the road with their star Doncic dominating the game.
Luka Doncic Dominates OKC in Mavs Win
Luka Doncic knew what he had to do in the crucial game and even his injuries couldn’t stop him, let alone the OKC defense. After tying the series, the OKC had hoped to take the upper hand in the home game, but the Mavs guard crushed it with his massive triple-double.
Doncic scored a game-high 31 points, grabbed 10 rebounds and distributed 11 assists. During the post-season tournament, Luka appeared to be struggling with his shooting, but in the fifth meeting with the OKC, the 25-year-old showcased his true potential. Doncic had attempted 22 shots from the field, out of which 12 had hit the target and when it came to 3-pointers, the 5-time All-Star shot 5-of-11.
Although no other Mavs player came as close to Doncic’s points in the game, he received some offensive support from P.J. Washington and Lively II, who contributed with double-doubles. Washington had 10 points and rebounds each, while Lively put up 11 points and 10 rebounds.
The Mavs need to win one more game in the series to advance to the Western Conference Finals, but that won’t be a cakewalk against the OKC who now have their back against the wall.
