As free agency approaches, Paul George is reportedly seeking a contract extension with the Los Angeles Clippers. However, the Clippers have yet to finalize a new deal with their star player. The team’s president, Lawrence Frank, recently provided an update on the status of negotiations.
During a recent press conference, Frank shared the Clippers’ desire to retain George.
“We’ve had ongoing conversations with Paul and Aaron Mintz, his agent. We love Paul. We very much want to retain Paul. But we also very much understand and respect the fact that this is a business. Players have a finite amount of time to be able to not just make the most amount of money, but be able to pursue whatever they want. We hope Paul’s decision is to be here,” Frank said.
The uncertainty surrounding George’s future has sparked interest from other teams, with the Golden State Warriors and the Houston Rockets emerging as potential suitors.
Paul George Wants to Stay With the Clippers
Like the Los Angeles Clippers, their star, Paul George, doesn’t want to untie their bond. ESPN’s Brian Windhorst reported that George wants to stay on the West Coast.
“I’m not so sure Paul George really wanted to leave the West Coast. I think that was something that Philadelphia ran into when they kicked the tires there,” Windhorst said during Wednesday’s episode of “The Hoop Collective.”
