Despite being the second overall draft pick, Chicago Bulls’ Lonzo Ball never had it easy in the NBA. However, he has the biggest defence mechanism, his humor, which gets him going. When he was selected by the Lakers, there were high hopes of his promising future in the franchise, but it came to an end in two years. Digging deep into those days, the point guard shared his trading incident which would amuse everyone.
Ball was included in the Lakers’ 2019 trade when acquired Anthony Davis from the New Orleans Pelicans. The move raised several questions, but that soon got silenced as AD helped LeBron James capture the championship title for the Purple and Gold, while the 26-year-old suffered from injuries.
Talking about that time on a recent episode of his podcast, “What An Experience!” Ball stated, “That’s the first time I realized that this is really a business.” Then he hilariously added, “It’s Anthony Davis. I mean, to be fair, a part of me was like, I would have traded myself for Anthony Davis.”
Years later, Ball disclosed that he himself believed that Davis was the right choice for the Lakers, more than he was. After spending two more seasons with the Pelicans, Ball found his new home in Chicago, where his future looks blurry.
Lonzo Ball’s Unstable Future at Bulls
When Lonzo Ball started off with the Bulls, he looked like the perfect piece that the Chicago-based franchise had been missing for years. However, disaster struck 35 games later in January 2022, as he got injured. The knee injury cost him more than two years. He is expected to return in the upcoming season, but the Bulls are getting impatient now.
The Bulls are planning on fixing their roster, so they acquired Josh Giddey. This could hamper Ball’s chances of getting extra minutes in his final year of contract.

According to rumors, “It’s impossible to not view Giddey as insurance in case Ball doesn’t return. By bringing in Giddey, the Bulls also might have signaled they’re ready to move on from Ball. A trade or buyout could be likely.”
With the franchise’s superstar DeMar DeRozan deciding to move to the Kings, it could be Ball’s turn next. However, the Bulls need to wait for him to fully recover before they make any such decisions.
