Before stepping into the NBA, every rookie has a unique story of struggle. But Bronny James’ journey has been marked by a life-threatening medical emergency. In July 2023, Bronny suffered a cardiac arrest during a USC Trojans training session, leaving the James family deeply concerned not just for his basketball career but for his life.
In the premiere of the Netflix docuseries Starting 5, LeBron James and his wife, Savannah James, opened up about that frightening time, revealing their honest thoughts and emotions. Savannah became emotional during the interview, vividly recalling the incident.
“I think at the end of the day it was just about us supporting each other. And just being super grateful for the outcome,” Savannah said.
One touching moment from the documentary was when LeBron introduced Erin, the woman who performed CPR on Bronny, to his mother. LeBron sincerely thanks Erin and the Trojans family for their quick actions.
“They are the reason Bronny is alive now and smiling and thriving and doing what any 19-year-old should be doing, and that’s living out their dream,” LeBron said.
