On Monday night, Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse welcomed one of its favorite sons, LeBron James, during the game between the Cavs and the Celtics. LeBron was accompanied by his wife, Savannah James and agent Rich Paul as he witnessed game 4 of the Eastern Conference semifinals.
During a break in the game, LeBron’s presence was announced to the crowd and the fans gave their championship hero a standing ovation when he was on the big screen. James also hit his signature crown gesture, but the cameras failed to catch it.
LBJ was seemingly enjoying his time with multiple bottles of wine, coffee cups, and water bottles under his seat. LeBron’s presence though, couldn’t inspire the Cavs to level the series as the Celtics came out victorious with a 109-102 win. Without Donovan Mitchell, the Cleveland side lost despite a brave fight and now find themselves in peril of getting vanquished at the TD Garden in game 5.
But is LeBron James’ surprise appearance only a one-time affair? With his Lakers future up in the air, a potential return to the Cavs might not be off the table.
Will LeBron James Return to Cavs?
Since the Lakers’ elimination to the Cavs in the first playoff round, speculations around the 4-time NBA champion’s future gathered steam. With the 2024 Paris Olympics on the horizon, LeBron’s focus is currently fixated on the event, but things might change pretty soon afterward.
The revolving door policy for the Lakers regarding their HC has been a massive cause of concern for the franchise. With only Anthony Davis putting in solid performances throughout the season apart from LeBron, the supporting crew has been underwhelming for quite a while now. In this scenario, returning to the Cavs could be an option for the 39-year-old.

He can opt out of the player option in his contract to join his former side where he can chase his 5th NBA championship with a better-supporting cast. Donovan Mitchell, Darius Garland, and Evan Mobley have already shown their playoff calibre, which could entice James for the switch. Furthermore, the Cavs hold the 20th draft pick which could be used to get Bronny James and that could secure LeBron’s allegiance, given his strong desire to play with his son.
But all that is now only in the realm of theories as no solid indication of LeBron returning to Cleveland has been provided by any insider or his agent. Despite that, things can change rapidly depending on the 2024 NBA Draft and the mood after the Olympics, which will be the two major deciding factors in LeBron James’ future selection.
