Draymond Green says ‘Boom’ every time he makes a three-pointer. The same was the case when he dropped one beyond the arc after going band for band against Zach Edey. But we only got a clear hold of his words when he mocked referees for the technical foul against the Memphis Grizzlies.
Green did not hold back in his criticism of the officiating during the Golden State Warriors 121-113 victory over Memphis. After facing a controversial technical foul for what he deemed an innocuous expression of celebration, Green aired his grievances in a post-game interview.
After the referee assessed him a flagrant foul for a play involving Zach Edey, where he made no contact with Edey’s head or neck, this incident occurred. Frustrated by the calls, Green sarcastically applauded as Edey took his free throws and later expressed disbelief over receiving a technical for celebrating with his catchphrase “Boom.”
Recently, after the game, someone leaked audio in which Dray could be clearly heard talking to the refs. When the announcement stated that officials had upgraded Green’s foul for shouting “Boom” to a foul penalty, he couldn’t do anything but smile. Soon after, when he saw the referee passing by, Green shouted, “That’s a surprise.” He continued to shout the phrase repeatedly until the ref became agitated.

“That’s a surprise.. surprise, surprise!”
Then, after receiving a technical foul for saying “boom!”, Green exchanged words with the refs again:

The Bay Area power forward, however, felt he was unfairly treated for just celebrating his shot. He took the post-game interview while elaborating on what exactly he did on the court, and he discussed his displeasure with the official’s reaction.

Draymond Green Showed Support For Struggling Joel Embiid
Joel Embiid is going through a tough time at the start of the 2024-2025 NBA season. However, Draymond Green recently stepped up to show his support for the big man. After the Philadelphia 76ers’ 34-point loss against the Warriors, Green reached out to a struggling Embiid.
Embiid had to sit out the first nine games of the season as part of an injury management plan. And even when he was back, injuries continued to plague him. In a very relatable way, Green acknowledged the weight of the pressure Embiid faces.
“I told him to stick with it. I told him I know how it feels for the whole world to be against you. It’s hard. Everybody’s against him right now as if he did something wrong to their mother, and all he did was live his life, deal with the injuries he’s had, tried to be on the court and be the best player he can be, and yet he gets so much hate for that,” Green said.

Since returning from a tough stretch of injuries, Embiid has been showing signs of consistency. He contributed to the 76ers’ solid 7-2 record in the games he played. Despite facing ongoing challenges, such as a sinus fracture and a sprained foot, Embiid is pushing through and making a significant impact on his team.
