The Los Angeles Lakers faced off against the Detroit Pistons at Crypto Arena, looking to extend their winning streak after back-to-back victories over the Sacramento Kings. The game brought plenty of excitement, but a lighthearted moment between two former teammates stole the spotlight.
During a heated exchange on the court, Lakers star Anthony Davis tried to draw a foul after facing contact, loudly screaming, “Aayy!” to get the referee’s attention. While Davis’ vocal protest was nothing unusual for basketball players, it didn’t result in the call he wanted.
What made the moment even more entertaining was the reaction from Davis’ former teammate and current Pistons guard Malik Beasley. Beasley couldn’t resist trolling Davis over his exaggerated attempt. “Just cause you scream AYYY doesn’t mean it’s a foul!” Beasley said.

“Defensively, we’re being physical, we’re talking, we’re communicating, we’re covering for one another, we’re rebounding. Our coverages are on point. We’re just flying around doing everything, getting greedy. Anytime you play like that, we know when our offense isn’t always there, we can rely on our defense. We just want to carry that into Monday’s game,” Davis said.
The Lakers entered their matchup against the Kings with a 16-12 record, holding the sixth spot in the competitive Western Conference. After enduring a challenging postseason last year, the Lakers are focused on fine-tuning their game to secure a deep playoff run this season.
