Kyrie Irving, the point guard for the Dallas Mavericks, gave his best effort to win the championship in the 2023-24 NBA season. However, the Mavericks fell short, losing to the Boston Celtics in the NBA finals. Irving, who recently shocked fans with a major announcement, is currently enjoying his offseason, while one of his former teammates reminisces about their time together. During a recent appearance on “The Big Podcast with Shaq,” former NBA player Jamal Crawford talked about hanging out with Irving.
“If there was ever footage of me and him [Kyrie Irving] going at it oh my god it was crazy… at the end of it he had six wins and I had 6… we need game 13,” Crawford said.
Crawford, who officially announced his retirement from the league on March 21, 2022, has played for a very short time in the Nets alongside Irving. However, they shared a great bond as the former NBA player mentioned in his interview.
Buzzing Trade Rumors: What’s Next for Irving?
Irving delivered several dominant performances throughout the recent season. Teaming up with star player Luka Doncic, the talented guard showcased his amazing skills for NBA fans. Despite this, there is ongoing speculation among fans and analysts that the Mavericks should trade him for a better player in order to upgrade the roster. ESPN insider Tim MacMahon recently gave his opinion about Jalen Brunson and Irving’s trade for the next season.
“If Brunson signs that extension with Dallas, I think there is a high likelihood that he would be with the Brooklyn Nets right now. Mark Cuban has always been about stars. Kyrie was going to become available the next season, as he did. At the time, Mavs did it because they needed a star to replace Brunson. But I think they would have looked at that as an upgrade,” MacMahon said.
According to StatMuse, Kyrie Irving, who is widely considered one of the best ball handlers of all time, averaged 25.6 points, 5.2 assists, and 5.0 rebounds in 58 games in the 2023-24 season. It will be fascinating to witness the performance of the 32-year-old guard in the next NBA season.
