Memphis Grizzlies guard Ja Morant was unable to take the court during the team’s game against the Los Angeles Lakers on Wednesday night due to injury. Without their star player, the Grizzlies struggled to keep pace with the Lakers, ultimately losing 128-123. This game was a rematch of sorts, as the Grizzlies had previously defeated the Lakers 131-114 on November 6 in Memphis.
Though Morant couldn’t contribute on the court, he remained actively involved in the game from the bench. However, his actions during the game raised some eyebrows.
After a three-pointer from the Grizzlies’ Santi Aldama, Morant was spotted signaling what appeared to be a gun at Anthony Davis with his fingers while sitting on the bench. The gesture immediately caught attention, with many recalling the controversial incidents from the previous year.
In March 2023, Morant landed in trouble after he waved a gun on an Instagram Live video. This led to a significant suspension, his second in less than two months, following an incident where he posed with a gun in a car.
How Long Ja Morant Will Be Out Of Action?
Ja Morant suffered an injury during the third quarter of the Grizzlies’ win over the Lakers after taking a hard fall under the basket. During Memphis’ 128-104 victory over the Washington Wizards, Morant was seen using crutches.
The injury might keep Morant out for a short period. But his timeline for recovery suggests he could make a return sometime this month. So far this season, Morant has played just 10 games, averaging 20.6 points, 5 rebounds, and 9.1 assists per game. He averaged 22.4 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 7.5 assists per game last season.
