Basketball fans have seen some of the strongest connections between players throughout the league’s history. These bonds are often clear both during their playing days and even after retirement. However, that’s not the case when it comes to the relationship between Vernon Maxwell and Vincent Askew.
Former Houston Rockets guard Maxwell recently posted a concerning video on his Instagram account, warning fellow NBA players about the potential dangers of lending money to Askew.
“I want all my NBA brothers to know one thing about this one n***a that’s in our fraternity. He a sucka a** n***a. He ain’t s**t. If this n***a calls you and asks you for any type of money, this n***a is lying… ‘I’m going through this divorce’ and all this dumb sh*t.” Maxwell said.
Askew enjoyed a notable nine-season career in the league, during which he played for eight different teams and earned approximately $5.8 million.
Vernon Maxwell Claims Askew Owes Him Approximately $10,000
Maxwell had a successful 13-season career in the NBA, playing for several teams. He was widely recognized for his clutch three-point shooting ability. Notably, He’s one of just nine players in NBA history to score 30 points in a single quarter, which he accomplished during a remarkable 51-point game against the Cleveland Cavaliers on January 26, 1991. However, since hanging up his sneakers, financial stability has been a significant concern for him. Recently, in a video, Maxwell stated that Askew owes him about $10,000.
“The n**ga’s name is Vincent Askew. Do not give that n**ga f*****g dime… That n**ga is broke. Do not f*** with this broke-a** n**ga. This n**ga owes me $10,000. And I want my money from you b**ch-a** n**ga. If he calls anyone of my NBA brothers, man do not give that n**ga a motherf**king dime.” Maxwell said.
