The Dallas Mavericks advanced to the NBA finals last season after 13 years. Though Kyrie Irving fell short of bringing the Mavs a second championship, his leadership and on-court chemistry with Luka Doncic silenced many of his critics, including Stephen A. Smith. Following his stunning performance with Dallas, former NBA player Deron Williams even sees him as the most skilled player in the league.
During his appearance on ‘Players TV,’ Williams shared his high praise for the Mavs star.
“Kyrie is the most skilled player I’ve ever seen, as far as just pure skill. There’s nothing on the offensive end that he can’t do,” Williams said.
The former NBA star later even referred to Kyrie Irving as a basketball wizard for his prowess in handling the ball.
“He’s posting up dudes (who are) 6’6, 6’7. He’s hitting runners with his left hand for the game. The dude is just skilled. I’ve never seen anybody dribble the ball like him. He’s a wizard with the basketball,” he added.
Irving became a member of the Dallas Mavericks in 2022. Since then, he has been striving to overcome the criticism from his time with the Brooklyn Nets. Last season, the Mavs star averaged 25.6 points, 5.2 assists, and 5.0 rebounds.
