After months of speculation, the Miami Heat and Jimmy Butler have finally parted ways. On Wednesday, just a day before the NBA trade deadline, the Heat sent Butler to the Golden State Warriors in a blockbuster deal.
Despite earlier reports suggesting the Warriors were not strongly pursuing Butler, they ultimately agreed to trade Andrew Wiggins, Dennis Schroder, Kyle Anderson, and a top-10 protected first-round pick in this year’s draft to acquire the six-time All-Star.
The news broke in the middle of the Heat’s game against the Philadelphia 76ers. One excited fan hilariously announced it from the bench.
“We’ve got Kyle Anderson, Dennis Schröder, and Andrew Wiggins. We robbed them. First-round pick, protected. They didn’t get out of here, no. That’s what I got,” the fan said.

Butler, who wore No. 22 during his time with the Miami Heat, will have a new number with the Warriors. According to NBA insider Chris B. Haynes, he is expected to wear No. 10 in Golden State.
For Butler, the trade marks a fresh start. After facing three suspensions this season, he now gets a chance to play for the Warriors with Stephen Curry, hoping to make another deep playoff run. Along with the trade, Butler also secured a lucrative two-year, $121 million contract extension with Golden State.
