It is finally over. The Warriors’ dynasty is no more. Klay Thompson’s move to Dallas signified the end of an era. But did the Dubs show enough respect to their stalwart? That’s the question going around in circles in the NBA world.
During the latest episode of NBA Today, a shocking revelation came to the surface. Richard Jefferson revealed a story about Christmas day involving Klay Thompson that proved why his frustrations with the franchise were valid.
“Getting off an elevator on Christmas Day of this past year, I see Klay, ‘Oh, Klay. What’s up?’ He says, ‘What’s up?’ I’m like, ‘Hey, man. Keep your mentals right.’ He’s like, ‘Man, tell them to pay me my money,’” said the analyst. He further added, “[Klay] turned their franchise around. That franchise is worth billions of dollars not just because of Stephen Curry. It’s also because of Klay.”
Klay Thompson remained a constant fixture in the Warriors championship-winning sides. But the franchise was not willing to give him a new contract and instead gave Draymond Green a 4-year $100 million deal. This only increased his frustrations which finally ended up in an exit from his favorite franchise.
But now Thompson has a new home with the Mavs and his former employers are willing to pay a final show of respect.
