Draymond Green has been crucial to the Golden State Warriors’ success over the past years. The 31-year-old forward has played a remarkable role in championship victories. Along with Klay Thompson and star player Stephen Curry, Green has won 4 championships throughout his professional career. Despite spending his entire 12-season career with the Warriors, the four-time NBA champion mentioned that he would consider joining another team if he were ever traded from the Warriors. In a recent appearance on the Club 520 podcast, Green stated that if the Warriors were to consider trading him, he would prefer to join the Detroit Pistons because it’s his home base.
“I truly hope that if ever the Warriors decide they no longer need me, they will at least consider my request. If a trade to a low-performing team is inevitable, let it be to the Detroit Pistons. It’s my home base, I can handle that. Though, I certainly wouldn’t mind if I chose Detroit over Charlotte Hornets. But generally, I wish to stay put.” Green said.
Green Shares His Championship Mindset with the Warriors and Jokes about the Indiana Pacers
During the same episode of the Club 520 podcast, Green also discussed his mindset while playing with the Warriors. He stated that his primary focus is always on winning the championship. The 34-year-old veteran also made lighthearted remarks about the Indiana Pacers.
“After winning four championships and making the playoffs and losing in the first round, I’d rather not win the second round. I’d rather go home and enjoy my summer. We trying to win a championship, that’s the talk. But making the playoffs? That’s some Indiana Pacers talk.” Green said.
The Warriors trio, including Green, Curry, and Thompson, split up after Thompson entered free agency this offseason and joined the Dallas Mavericks. Following the star guards’ departure from the Warriors, Green shared his thoughts on Thompson, expressing his happiness that Thompson left the team.
