On Saturday, the Golden State Warriors pulled off a 109-105 victory against the Phoenix Suns. However, while the team celebrated the win, things took a turn when tensions flared between Draymond Green and the Warriors’ newest star, Buddy Hield.
During the third quarter, the Warriors’ broadcast caught an intense exchange between the two players. Green was overheard saying, “Wake the fk up. Or go sit the f*** down,” directed at Hield after a play. The outburst caught the attention of viewers and raised questions about the bonding between the two teammates.
In his postgame interview, Green addressed the comments, unapologetically standing by his words. He continued, explaining that Hield hadn’t yet played much “meaningful basketball” in his career.
“I’ll say it right into the mic. I don’t give a damn. It was needed. Buddy hasn’t had the opportunity to play a bunch of meaningful basketball in this league. Guess what? It’s our job to make sure he understands what that means. And if people don’t like it, so be it. That’s why they don’t have four championships and I do,” Green said.
The Warriors broadcast picked up Draymond seemingly saying "Wake the f**k up. Or go sit the f**k down" to Buddy Hield after a play in the 3rd quarter.
