DeMar DeRozan has finalized his move to the Sacramento Kings after negotiations over the past few days. Both fans and the team are thrilled about acquiring the star from the Chicago Bulls. Upon his arrival, the Kings welcomed DeRozan at the Golden 1 Center. The six-time All-Star received a warm reception, walking out to Kendrick Lamar’s “They Not Like Us,” accompanied by a standing ovation. DeRozan took his time greeting fans courtside, shaking hands, and waving to the crowd.
The Kings have reportedly offered DeRozan a lucrative three-year, $74 million deal, with $59 million guaranteed. His average annual value from the agreement will be for $24.6 million.
In exchange for acquiring DeRozan, the Kings traded Harrison Barnes to the San Antonio Spurs and sent Chris Duarte, along with two second-round picks and cash, to the Chicago Bulls.
De’Aaron Fox Helps Land DeRozan for the Sacramento Kings
The Sacramento Kings were aggressive in bringing DeMar DeRozan, as other teams, including the LA Lakers and Miami Heat, expressed their opinions on DeRozan. But DeRozan cleared his intention by turning down $13 million in MLE.
That paved the way for the Kings to add the former Chicago Bulls star. According to reports from Bleacher Report and TNT’s Chris Haynes, De’Aaron Fox played a significant role in persuading DeRozan to choose Sacramento.
“Sacramento Kings star De’Aaron Fox played a pivotal role by joining today’s meeting to help recruit DeMar DeRozan. The two are ecstatic about partnering together on the court,” Haynes reported.

During his three seasons with the Bulls, DeRozan averaged 25.5 points, 5.1 assists, and 4.7 rebounds per game. Last season alone, he maintained a strong performance with averages of 24 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 5.3 assists across 79 games for Chicago.
However, his impressive play could not bring much success for the Kings, as the Bulls last made it to the postseason in the 2021–2022 season.
