The Dallas Mavericks narrowly lost their recent game against the Phoenix Suns, with a final score of 113-114. Despite strong performances from the starting lineup, the Mavericks fell short due to inadequate contributions from the bench players. Moreover, head Coach Jason Kidd was visibly upset with the loss after the game.
Kidd did not hold back during the post-game press conference when he addressed the bench players’ performance. Clearly frustrated by their lack of contribution to the game, he expressed his disappointment candidly.
“It’s got to be addressed. We have talked about it, there’s got to be some action, there’s got to be some energy. Somebody has to come with some f-ing energy. We’re f-ing flat, that’s where it starts. We got to be tough, no matter how many injuries we have or how small we are, right now we are not doing that. We will look at the tape, we will get back to seeing what we can do better.” Kidd said.
Kidd highlighted the significance of team depth and the crucial role of the bench in supporting the starters, making it clear that he expected greater commitment and effectiveness from those players.
Kidd Voices Concerns Over Doncic And Irving’s Early Season Fatigue
Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving delivered impressive performances in a recent game against the Suns. Doncic scored 30 points and contributed seven assists and seven rebounds, while Irving added 29 points, six assists, and seven rebounds.
However, late in the game, Suns center Jusuf Nurkic struck the Slovenian basketball player in the groin. Upon reviewing footage of the game in slow motion, it became clear that Nurkic had not actually made any contact with Doncic.

Further in the interview, Coach Kidd expressed concern about early-season fatigue affecting both Doncic and Irving. He emphasized the importance of bench players stepping up to provide support, allowing the duo to rest.
“It’s a team. It’s not Luka and Kyrie and Klay Thompson. Others have to participate. I played the whole f-ing team tonight, and we couldn’t find anybody, so we had to leave those two to carry the load, and it’s not fair to them this early in the season.” Kidd said
The Mavericks are currently 5-4 in the regular season. Their next game will be against the Denver Nuggets, and it will be worth observing the bench players’ performance after Kidd’s remark.
