In a recent episode of the Gil’s Arena podcast, Brandon Jennings sparked a huge controversy. During a conversation with Gilbert Arenas, Jennings called Jayson Tatum ‘soft.’ He referred to Tatum’s toughness as not quite up to the mark, which startled even Arenas himself. While he countered that by soft, did he mean ‘quiet’? Jennings stayed rooted to his words.
Jennings further compared Tatum with Larry Bird, Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce and mentioned that his toughness was quite less. With the controversy gaining significant attention, Jayson Tatum has finally reacted to the same.
“I wasn’t mad, I had some time… It comes with being one of the best players in the league… I’m not the first superstar to deal with this,” Tatum stated via Daniel Donabedian.

Meanwhile, Jayson Tatum was not the only one who reacted to Jennings’ comments. His trainer, too, jumped to his defense.
Jayson Tatum’s Trainer Lashes Out At ‘Soft’ Allegations
Tatum’s trainer, Drew Hanlen, did not seem to have taken the comments in a good light. Hanlen referred to Tatum as the team’s leading scorer.
“I liked Brandon Jennings as a player, but we gotta stop the [cap]. His comment that Tatum is ‘soft’ is pathetic. A soft player couldn’t lead their team in PTS, REB & AST to a title. A soft player wouldn’t have 51 in a G7 or 31/11/8 to win finals,” Hanlen stated.
