In their last game, the Brooklyn Nets faced off against a lackluster Philadelphia 76ers. Unfortunately, despite squaring off against a team who is 2-12 down, the Nets failed to capitalize and succumbed to a 98-113 defeat. With Paul George and Joel Embiid missing in action, rookie Jared McCain upped the ante by scoring 30 points as the 76ers won after five games.
Now, losing to a struggling 76ers would surely hurt the Nets significantly. But Ben Simmons did something that completely made him the big talking point. Simmons had a quiet game, dropping only 2 points, four assists, and four rebounds each. But the Australian’s epic fumble of a straightforward lay-up attempt infuriated the crowd even further.

Having recovered the ball from the 76ers, Simmons’ teammate, Jalen Wilson, threw the ball to Simmons. Surprisingly, the Australian botched the pass, failing to convert the two points. To make matters worse, the replays showed that Simmons was not being blocked by his opponents as he missed.
Adding further insult to the injury, the botch resulted in the 76ers capitalizing and completely changing the game’s momentum. Well, this was surely an embarrassing moment for the 28-year-old Australian. On the contrary, the 76ers’ rookie, Jared McCain, emerged as their savior.
Jared McCain Vows To Win Rookie Of The Year
Jared McCain is having a dream season for the Philadelphia 76ers. Expressing himself to the fullest, the rookie has now scored 20 points or more in 6 games straight. Against the Nets, too, McCain carried his team on his back along with Tyrese Maxey, who dropped 26 points in a winning cause.

Oozing significant confidence, McCain pointed to the crowd after scoring against the Nets to make a bold claim. “I’m the Rookie of the Year,” uttered McCain. Indeed, this is not a farfetched wish, given his current form, but McCain can most certainly be a potential contender. Thus, with the league becoming exciting, how things will pan out remains to be seen.
