Minnesota Timberwolves fans have long celebrated the dynamic play of their star duo, Anthony Edwards and Karl-Anthony Towns. However, this offseason marked the end of an era as Towns was traded to the New York Knicks in a blockbuster move. In return, the Timberwolves acquired Julius Randle, Donte DiVincenzo, and a protected 2025 first-round pick.
Edwards hasn’t hidden his admiration for his former teammate, and he even expressed a desire to play alongside Towns again. Yet, for those who might hope for an Edwards-Towns reunion in New York, it appears the Timberwolves star has other ideas.
While Edwards respects Towns and would enjoy playing with him, he recently hinted that New York isn’t the destination he has in mind. During a preseason matchup at Madison Square Garden, Edwards addressed Knicks fans, making it clear why a move to New York isn’t in his plans.
“Y’all ain’t finna be mad at me when I have an off game,” Edwards said. “When I play bad, y’all are gonna be like, ‘Boo!’ 82 games, I ain’t gonna be good.”

The preseason game between the Wolves and Knicks ended in a 115-110 win for the latter. Towns recorded 16 points and 16 rebounds in the win. Edwards added 31 points, 2 rebounds, and 3 assists to his team’s loss.

Anthony Edwards Joins Elite Company With Three-Point Milestones
Anthony Edwards is off to a historic start in his sixth season with the Minnesota Timberwolves. According to StatMamba, Edwards became only the third player in NBA history to hit five or more three-pointers in each of his first three games of a season. The only other players to accomplish this feat are none other than superstars Stephen Curry and Kemba Walker.
Beyond this impressive start, Edwards also reached another milestone by becoming the youngest player in NBA history to make 800 career three-pointers. Last season, Edwards led the Timberwolves to the Western Conference Finals, although they ultimately fell short against the Dallas Mavericks.
This season, Edwards and the Timberwolves are picking up where they left off, securing wins over the Toronto Raptors and the Sacramento Kings early in the regular season. Despite a tough season opener against the Los Angeles Lakers, which handed the Timberwolves their only loss so far, Edwards has continued to demonstrate leadership on the court.
