In a never ever happened scenario, the Los Angeles Lakers are trading off Anthony Davis to the Dallas Mavericks. They will get Luka Doncic in return, and what else could they eye for an already star-studded roster? While there’s still time for Davis to dub into the Mavs colors, the media is getting impatient.
Recently, when the Lakers slashed the New York Knicks for a 128-112 win, reporters got AD. During the post-game interaction, a media person enquired about Davis’ stint at LA. “Does it make you think about what you’re accomplishing here? Or, maybe what could accomplish with what’s left in your Laker tenure,” the reporter asked.
“You said that I’m about to [get traded],” Davis quipped right back.

However, the trade that will send Anthony Davis to Dallas is a big change for the Lakers. They had never made him available before. But according to ESPN’s Shams Charania, they decided to consider it when the Mavericks proposed a deal that included Doncic. In the trade, the Lakers received Doncic, Maxi Kleber, and Markieff Morris. They’ll send Davis, rookie Max Christie, and a first-round pick in 2029 to Dallas.
Additionally, the Utah Jazz were also part of the deal, getting Jalen Hood-Schifino and two second-round picks in 2025. There were good reasons the Lakers had always held onto Davis. He’s seen as one of the top players in the league and still in his prime, making the team hesitant to trade him unless another superstar was offered in return.

LeBron James Lambast Reporter For Saying Lakers Star Has Rift With Anthony Davis
While Davis’ trade is still to get the final sign-off, the whole league is tearing clothes. LeBron James has recently found himself in a heated exchange regarding the Davis-Doncic trade. Bron was off with CBS Sports’ NBA insider Bill Reiter claiming a rift between him and fellow Lakers star AD.
This tension arose after Reiter mentioned that sources within the Lakers organization indicated James had grown frustrated with Davis. Such remarks came during a segment on CBS Sports HQ following the shocking trade.
“You a fkn lie!!!” LeBron commented on Reiter’s claims.

Reiter’s assertion, particularly the way it was presented—without the crucial qualifier “little”—sparked a swift backlash from James, who took to social media to firmly deny these reports.
However, Reiter, for his part, stood by his comments and encouraged viewers to consider the full context behind them. While some reporters backed McMenamin’s insight that James didn’t know about the trade until it happened, Reiter and others remain skeptical.
