French basketball sensation Victor Wembanyema had fans losing it on social media after seemingly confirming he won’t be declaring for the 2023 NBA Draft.
Wembanyema, who is expected to be the first overall pick of this year’s draft, has been touted as one of the best prospects in recent history given what he can do at the height of 7ft 5in. The tweet was posted on March 30 but Wembanyema jokingly confirmed its message on April Fools’ Day, retweeting it with the caption “Yes indeed,” while also tagging his team and adding a praying hands emoji.
Of course, he got fans going…

It would be perfectly normal if the towering center wanted to remain in France for at least another year to make sure he’s ready for the NBA. European stars are known to do that.
Wembanyema, though, is a special case and, barring a major development, will be the first name called during this year’s draft.
