LeBron James called him an alien, but could he see himself being traded for him?
Victor Wembanyama has been the talk of the NBA since fans tuned in to watch him play against the G League Ignite.
The 7-foot-4 center and projected No. 1 overall pick in the NBA draft scored 37 points against Scoot Henderson, the projected No. 2 pick.
“Everybody has been labeling this unicorn thing,” James said. “Everybody has been a unicorn for the last two years, but he’s more like an alien. I’ve never seen — no one has ever seen anyone as tall as he is, but as fluid and as graceful as he is out on the floor.
“… His ability to put the ball on the floor, shoot step-back jumpers out of the post, step-back 3s, catch-and-shoot 3s, block shots … He’s for sure a generational talent.”
The Athletic’s David Aldridge recently asked some people around the NBA to list the players that they wouldn’t be willing to trade to land Wembanyama.
He is so good that Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James didn’t even make that list of a Western Conference executive. The only players the executive listed were Kevin Durant, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Stephen Curry, Nikola Jokic and Joel Embiid.
“Who wouldn’t I trade?” the executive began. “You have Durant. You have Giannis. I can’t put (James) in that conversation, just because of his age. Curry. Jokić. And Embiid. I would say organizationally, you have to have that conversation. I’m not saying I would do it. But I think those five push that question.”

The Lakers are 0-2 on the season after losing to the Golden State Warriors and Los Angeles Clippers. LeBron dropped 31 points and added 14 rebounds and eight assists against the Warriors. James had 20 points and 10 rebounds in the game against the Clippers.
There will be many terrible teams doing whatever they can to add Wembanyama in the draft next year.
