With the NBA season getting interesting, the intense rivalries and personal accolades are getting even more complex. One such battle is for the Defensive Player Of The Year. Adding significant fuel to the fire, Los Angeles Lakers’ Anthony Davis had a bold take on the issue. Sitting down with ESPN’s Shams Charania, Davis stated that he was not satisfied with the fact that Victor Wembanyama was being favored for this year’s DPOY award.
Davis even went on to say that it’s unfair how the “narrative is being pushed” in favor of the San Antonio Spurs star. However, such a statement did not seem to sit well with Wembanyama. After their 128-116 loss against the LA Clippers, Wembanyama lashed out at the Lakers’ star.
“I really don’t care about individual accolades. It’s not something I’ve been worrying about,” Wembanyama said. “If I end up being the Defensive Player of the Year, it means I helped my team on that side of the court. It means I’ve done my best, and I’ve been rewarded for it.”

Wembanyama then closed his statement by pointing out that for him, the biggest result was a victory for his team. Meanwhile, Wembanyama was also mocked by Ja Morant recently.
