Victor Wembanyama has had enough of the media hype and controversy surrounding him already.
Before he touched an NBA floor, he has been the most talked about young player since LeBron James came into the league from high school. Days before his first summer league game, he was the subject of worldwide controversy after an incident involving Britney Spears led to her being slapped by his security guard in Las Vegas.
His first summer league game was not good at all as he only scored nine points.
On Sunday, he was much better as he dropped 27 points and had 12 rebounds and three blocks. He shot 9-of-14 from the field, and 2-of-4 from behind the arc. The Spurs still lost to the Portland Trail Blazers 85-80 at the Thomas & Mack Center.
Now the 19-year-old has plans for the rest of her summer.
“As I’m not playing in the World Cup, I got 2-3 great months that are coming and they’re gonna change my life. I’m probably gonna disappear from the media for the next [few] months, honestly.”
