After spending his entire career with the Golden State Warriors, Klay Thompson made a significant move to the Dallas Mavericks this offseason. With his departure, the iconic “Splash Brothers” duo with Stephen Curry has come to an end. Thompson’s move has left the Warriors fans wondering who will step up as Curry’s next key on-court partner.
Victor Oladipo recently shared his thoughts on who could be the next great fit alongside Curry. In his view, DeAnthony Melton could be the perfect choice. Oladipo broke down why he thinks Melton would be an ideal pairing with the Warriors’ superstar.
“If I had to choose to pair next to Steph, and I thought it was a great fit, I would have to go with DeAnthony Melton,” Oladipo said.
“Here we have DeAnthony Melton spreading the floor for Steph. Steph’s coming off an angled screen. He has to read the weak side. He seeds at Norman Powell. No weak side is helping too much, and he sprays it to Anthony Melton. Anthony Melton hits it open three,” he added.
Stephen Curry Opens Up About Training Without Klay Thompson
This season marks a new chapter for Stephen Curry, as it is the first time he has gone through training without his long-time teammate, Klay Thompson. In an interview with ESPN, Curry opened up about what it’s been like to train without Thompson.
“With his Dockers on, whatever outfit he had on. He just had a presence about him, a lightness when he came in the room. And his one-liners were always great. [I’m] talking about him like he died, super weird,” Curry said.

Curry feels the weight of Thompson’s absence greatly. It’d take time for the 36-year-old guard to cope with, but like him, the Warriors’ fans also surely miss their iconic duo.
