NBA players are rarely seen to care much for their outlook. Everyone thought Dwyane Wade was one of them, as he was careless about his bald look in the 2008 Olympics. But surprisingly, he amused his fans with his frequent nail painting, which is a rarity among NBA stars.
While some have criticized Wade for this, his former teammate Udonis Haslem stepped up to defend him. Praising Wade for his choices, he hailed the former Miami Heat star’s role as a father. On a recent episode of The OGs Show, Haslem addressed the criticism head-on.
“They are trying my dawg. My dawg has always been a trend setter, not giving an [expletive],” Haslem said.
Haslem highlighted that Wade’s actions are a reflection of his dedication to being a supportive father, contrasting with the many girls who grow up with unresolved issues due to a lack of fatherly support.
“He should support Zaya and every dream that she has, regardless of what she wants to do in life. That’s a father’s and a parent’s job. So, regardless of that, sitting at home, painting his nails with his daughters, so what? We see so many girls that grow up and have daddy issues,” Haslem added.
Dwyane Wade Opens Up About His Nail Care
Wade’s unique style has always included his love for nail painting. He has been committed to this practice since 2007. Back in March, in an interview with Highsnobiety for his cover story, Dwyane Wade discussed his approach to nail care.

“I’ve been getting my nails painted since 2007. I always knew that’s what I wanted to do: I wanted to be one of those sharp-dressed men who smelled good, who stayed clean-shaved, and all that,” Wade said.
The former Miami Heat star also drew inspiration from his father, who was known for his impeccable style. “My father has always been a man who would take care of himself. He was just a fly dude, and it didn’t matter if it was a sweatsuit or if it was a suit,” Wade added.
Wade recently shared that he is considering a possible nail-care line, inspired by his close relationship with his 6-year-old daughter, Kaavia. Stay tuned to get more updates on Wade’s nail stories.
