Since being drafted by the Los Angeles Lakers, Bronny James has faced intense scrutiny. His Summer League performance fueled the criticism, with many doubting his potential. Despite the pressure, Bronny has a few notable supporters rallying behind him.
One of those voices is former NBA star Udonis Haslem. The former player recently spoke in defense of Bronny on The OGs podcast. Haslem praised Bronny for staying focused despite the noise surrounding him and even compared Bronny to the Boston Celtics’ star Jrue Holiday.
“He’s done a great job of just quieting the noise and focusing on the things he can control. When he speaks, he makes specific points that show he’s mature enough to understand his position. When he speaks, he talks about being a Jrue Holiday type of guy,” Haslem said.
“These guys aren’t necessarily the top scorer on their team, but they’re guys you can’t win without. Your Swiss Army Knife guys. They can blow up a whole play, so if he can come in and make an impact like that and he builds with that, I’m looking at him to do good things,” he added.

“I always say that the Summer League is always the hardest thing to do because you’re just getting thrown into the fire. And to answer your Bronny question, it’s gonna get a lot harder,” Davis said.
“When you get into training camp and when you get into the season, he’s gonna get better and be on a team where they have player development where they have great players; his dad is a great player; he’s gonna get better,” he added.
While the road ahead may be tough, both Haslem and Davis believe Bronny has the support and environment to grow into a stronger player.
