We certainly did not need a map to know who is the most hated and disliked player in the NBA, but we got one anyway.
Based on geotagged Twitter data over the last month that included over 70,000 tweets, hashtags, and direct keyword phrases about disliking NBA players, we now know what state hates which NBA player the most.
The full breakdown.
LeBron James – 24 states
Kyrie Irving – 18 states
James Harden – 3 states
Kevin Durant – 3 states
Russell Westbrook – 1 state
Paul George – 1 state
James claimed “victory” in a league-high 24 states, with Kyrie Irving not too far behind with 18 states.
While James will go down as one of the greatest players in NBA history, his decision to leave the Cleveland Cavaliers for the Miami Heat in 2010 via “The Decision” rubbed people the wrong way. His decision to join the Lakers did not help as well. On top of him switching teams, fans are usually turned off by him with moments they consider where he flops way too much and exagerates contact on plays where he takes a hard foul.
