Wednesday’s playoff games were great but got quickly overshadowed by two unruling fans for two different fan bases.
Russell Westbrook and Trae Young were both subjected to abuse from NBA fans, and Young’s father is fed up with it.
Ray Young called on the NBA to do something about fans abusing players like his son. He has no issue with the fans chanting things, but the physical abuse “needs to be addressed.”
“Gotta get this under control. [Russell Westbrook] gets popcorn thrown on him & [Trae Young] gets spat on,” Young wrote. “I can deal with all the chants about my son, it comes with it. But this needs to be addressed. @NBAonTNT @NBA @espn @nyknicks @NBATheJump”
Westbrook had popcorn dumped on him while Trae Young was spit at.

The Philadelphia 76ers revoked the season tickets of the fan who dumped popcorn on Westbrook and banned the guy from the arena.
The Knicks have since followed suit.
“We investigated the matter and determined that this patron, who is not a season ticket holder, did indeed spit on Trae Young, and for that reason, he is now banned from The Garden indefinitely. We apologize to Trae and the entire Atlanta Hawks organization for this fan’s behavior. This was completely unacceptable and will not be tolerated in our venue. We have turned the information over to the appropriate authorities.”
