Cleveland Cavaliers guard Donovan Mitchell has been at the center of trade rumors throughout the NBA season. Now, a report from Sam Amico of Hoops Wire has presented a worrying scenario for Cavs fans regarding Mitchell’s future.
According to Amico’s report, several teams have their eyes set on acquiring Mitchell if he decides not to extend his contract with the Cavaliers. Among the interested parties are the Los Angeles Lakers, Miami Heat, Brooklyn Nets, New Orleans Pelicans, and Philadelphia 76ers. Bleacher Report has identified Mitchell as a dream trade target for the Brooklyn Nets.
Mitchell is currently set to earn $35.4 million for the upcoming season. Meanwhile, following the Cavaliers’ early exit from the playoffs with a 4-1 series defeat to the Boston Celtics, there have been rumors suggesting Mitchell’s dissatisfaction with the team’s performance.
Many anticipated Mitchell declining his $37 million player option for the 2025–26 season. However, ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski later dismissed these notions.
