Toronto Raptors center Jontay Porter is being investigated by the NBA for irregularities on his prop bets, sources told ESPN‘s David Purdum, Brian Windhorst, and Adrian Wojnarowski.
The league is reportedly looking into the Raptors’ games against the Los Angeles Clippers on January 26th and the Sacramento Kings on March 20th.
In Toronto’s game against the Los Angeles Clippers, there was suspicious “increased betting interest on the under for Porter props,” which were set at 5.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 1.5 assists. There was also an over/under set at 0.5 for Porter’s made three-pointers. He would only play four minutes on the night as he got removed for what the Raptors said was a re-aggravation of an eye injury he suffered four days earlier, so the under hit on each prop bet.
He ended that matchup with zero points, three rebounds, and an assist.
Against the Kings, Porter would play even less in this NBA game as he registered just 2:43 of playing time before leaving with an illness, finishing with only two rebounds and one unsuccessful 2-point field-goal attempt.
His over/under player props for that game were around 7.5 points and 5.5 rebounds.
During both games, DraftKings Sportsbook reported the day after the game that props relating to Porter produced the most winnings of all the previous night’s individual NBA player props. In fact, his under three-pointers made were most popular on January 26th and his under props were the most popular on March 20th.
