The Toronto Raptors have joined the trade saga by acquiring Brandon Ingram from the New Orleans Pelicans. While the league was going as silent before the Luka Doncic trade shook it, Toronto shifted toward a win-now mentality.
Despite currently sitting in the 13th place, the Raptors are pushing hard for a playoff spot with all their determination. They sent Bruce Brown Jr., Kelly Olynyk, a first-round pick, and a second-round pick to New Orleans in exchange for the All-Star forward. Ingram’s career average of 23 points per game would only make a strong case for him starting for his new home.

This starting five looks bold and mighty as they take on the opponents. Scoring potential and the roster’s overall size improvement would be the major expectations from the above names. The Raptors now have an average height of 6-foot-6, and they will be one of the lengthiest teams in the league.

The Toronto Raptors will be making a significant move by acquiring forward Brandon Ingram from the Pelicans. Reports indicate that this deal is expected to be finalized before the rapidly approaching trade deadline.
After weeks of negotiations, Toronto emerged as the frontrunner for Ingram over competitors like the Atlanta Hawks. They materialized the trade just in time before any other serious contender would lurk around.

Bruce Brown’s $23 million expiring contract made him a crucial asset in this deal. Meanwhile, Olynyk, who is under contract for another season, provides New Orleans with much-needed frontcourt depth and salary matching in the trade. The Raptors are also sending a top-four protected first-round pick in 2026 from the Indiana Pacers. That will only add the draft capital to the Pelicans’ future, along with an unspecified second-round pick.
At 27 years old, Ingram brings a wealth of offensive versatility to the Raptors despite his recent injury setback. Averaging 22.2 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 5.2 assists this season, his ability to create his own shots and facilitate plays is expected to complement the developing talent of Scottie Barnes.
