The Minnesota Timberwolves sent star Rudy Gobert home following an ugly confrontation with teammate Kyle Anderson that turned physical.
Gobert and Anderson got into a heated argument during a timeout in Sunday’s home game against the New Orleans Pelicans. As you can see in the clip below, an angry Gobert threw a punch at his teammate, and the two had to be held back before things escalated further.
Per Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium, the Timberwolves sent Gobert home following the incident, keeping him out for the remainder of the game.
There is never a good time for teammates to get physical, let alone during a game. And the timing can’t get much worse for the Timberwolves, who locked down a play-in berth ahead of the showdown with New Orleans.
Last July, the Timberwolves acquired the longtime Utah Jazz star in a blockbuster trade. As part of the return, the Timberwolves sent four first-round picks (in 2023, 2025, 2027 plus a top-five protected 2019 pick).

The Timberwolves have been among basketball’s biggest disappointments here in 2022-23. A year after qualifying for the postseason with a 46-36 record, the T-Wolves found themselves scratching and clawing just for a play-in berth.
The acquisition of Gobert was supposed to help Minnesota reach another level. Instead, the Timberwolves have somehow gotten worse this year. Needless to say, the vibes aren’t exactly great for the organization right now.
