The death of basketball superstar Kobe Bryant shocked the nation and the world and while people are rightfully mourning him, there are others who are trying to capitalize off his untimely death.
The Lakers Tuesday game vs. the Clippers was postponed because emotions were still too high. Their first game will now be on Friday at Staples Center against the Portland Trailblazers.
Before Bryant’s death, the cheapest pair of tickets for Friday’s game was $190 each on the site TickPick.com and $199 each on StubHub.com, according to WTKR.com.
The cheapest pair of tickets on TickPick are just under $1K as of Wednesday afternoon and over $1K on Stubhub.
Court-side tickets are going for more than $47,000.
The untimely death of the 41-year-old basketball star shook the sports world to its core.
James, who had just passed Bryant for third place on the NBA’s all-time scoring list the day before his death, posted an emotional reaction on Instagram to the news, saying, “I literally just heard your voice Sunday morning before I left Philly to head back to LA.” James, who joined the Lakers last season, said the two spoke by phone Sunday.
