LeBron James has been around in the NBA for a long time now. However, despite having a plethora of accomplishments, James has recently faced a lot of criticism. One of the major reasons for this is his advanced NBA age. Such a concern has even led to the emergence of rumors that King James will retire from the sport as well. However, going against the haters, a former 3x NBA All-Star had a strong opinion about the 40-year-old.
“The fact that LeBron haters are pretending like he is not the age he is, doing what he doing, like they can name another 38/39 year old who is capable of playing this way,” Gilbert Arenas said recently in his podcast.
He even made a bold statement by saying that James is the best NBA player at his age. He also mentioned that Jordan was the best at his age but he never played long enough till 40.

Surely, keeping aside the GOAT debate, the 40-year-old is having quite a decent season so far. In the last match against the Cleveland Cavaliers, James dropped 23 points, albeit in a losing cause. Meanwhile, all is not okay with LeBron James. In a shocking statement, the Lakers’ icon was touted as a possible reason for the drop in NBA ratings.
Bill Simmons Lashes Out At LeBron James For Poor NBA Ratings
The NBA has been suffering from a poor showing in the viewership department. For the last few months, the ratings have declined significantly. And while every possible effort is being made to stem the decline, a lot of theories have emerged about the same. Likewise, American podcaster Bill Simmons put forth his opinions on the matter in a recent episode of ‘The Ringer’ podcast. Surprisingly, he had some harsh words for LeBron James.
"The fact that the Steph-LeBron game was so good … is actually kind of part of the problem."@BillSimmons explains how the Lakers-Warriors Christmas Day matchup is both the current solution—and problem—for the NBA. pic.twitter.com/GhM6F4TXcy

“There’s been so much what’s wrong with the NBA stuff. The Steph LeBron thing last night was the solution and the problem at the same time,” said Simmons. He mentioned that the surge in three-peat attempts from the duo has resulted in the players engaging less. This resulted in the fans becoming satiated with the incredible three-peat game. Thus, with mixed reactions coming his way, LeBron James is surely looking to get his team to the playoffs at the moment. All the other things can rest at the moment.
