After two straight years of disappointment, the Celtics duo, Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown led the team to its 18th championship title by beating the Dallas Mavericks in a 4-1 series. Before anyone else could give them their flowers, their teammate Jrue Holiday showered the pair with praise.
During the post-game presser, when Holiday was asked about his experience with the star duo, calling it “great” the veteran guard stated, “They get scrutinized so much. They get so much pressure put on them for not winning and not getting over that hump… People can finally see the relationship they have. From the beginning, they’ve always done it together… Hopefully (the championship) is a burden off of their shoulders.”
Tatum and Brown tried their playoff luck in the 2022 NBA Finals against the Golden State Warriors, but it wasn’t enough. Even the following year, they qualified for the Eastern Conference Final but got beaten by the Miami Heat. However, this year, with a strong team behind their back, they went on to the Finals and came out as the historic winners.
Despite others pointing out absurd remarks about their relationship, there has been no sign of a rift between them. According to Holiday, what made their bond stronger was not indulging in comparisons with each other, even when the fans and critics did so.
Talking about comparisons, an interesting question was shot at him in the press conference comparing his championship trophy with the Milwaukee Bucks to that of the Boston Celtics.

Jrue Holiday succeeded in adding another championship trophy to his name after waiting for three years. So the question that popped up was whether winning it on Monday was any different from his 2021 title.

Holiday straightaway said, “No. It doesn’t. Winning is also always great. When you do it with people that you love to do it with, it feels great. And when you see teammates celebrating and jumping on each other and throwing champagne, there’s nothing like it.”
In his first season with the Cs, the 34-year-old became an integral part of the team, the key player that they were missing from the squad. Holiday can now peacefully join the other USA Team members next month for the Summer Olympics training camp.
