“They Want to Win”- NBA Analyst Claims All Free Agents and Veteran Guards Want to Play with Victor Wembanyama

In a recent interview with NBA analyst Kevin O’Connor, ESPN’s NBA Draft analyst Jonathan Givony claimed that Victor Wembanyama, the star player for the San Antonio Spurs, is attracting a lot of attention from free agents and veteran guards who all want to play with him.

Givony mentioned that the Spurs want to be competitive next year and make the playoffs. He also stated that the team will be more aggressive starting next season and that Wembanyama is one of the few untouchable players on the roster.

“Every free agent and every veteran guard they want to play with, Victor Wembanyama,” Givony said.

“Every free agent, every veteran guard, they all want to play with Victor Wembanyama.”

When asked about San Antonio’s priorities in the offseason, Givony said that the team will be aggressive with its NBA Draft picks.

“They Want to win. Everything that I hear is that they want to be competitive next year. They want to be in the playoffs. And so they are not looking to make this, you know, like a 2-3 year process where they, you know, the lottery again next year. They are trying for Cooper Flagg. They are taking games at the end… I think they are going to be aggressive with those picks four and eight, maybe for a veteran”, the NBA Draft Analyst added.

Givony is not the only expert who praised the young rookie. During a recent episode of the “Gil’s Arena Show” podcast, host Gilbert Arenas also lauded Wembanyama, saying, “Wemby’s gonna be a billionaire while he’s playing.”

Wembanyama has expressed his desire to return to competition as soon as possible after missing the playoffs in 2024. The Spurs are making every effort to accommodate his needs. Despite his team’s poor performance this season, Wembanyama was awarded the Best Rookie of the Year.
