Stephen Curry, the star player for the Golden State Warriors, showcased exceptional skills on the court during the 2023-24 NBA season. However, despite his efforts, the Warriors were unable to advance to the NBA playoffs, as they lost in the Play-In tournament.
In preparation for the upcoming NBA season, the Warriors are working hard to find a dominant player who can support Curry, who recently shared his thoughts on playing alongside LeBron James in the future. According to senior NBA writer Sam Amick of The Athletic, the Warriors want to pair Miami Heat star player Jimmy Butler with Curry in a shocking move this summer.
“You need the wheels to fall off somewhere. Not free agency-wise, talking trade-wise. A couple guys who come to mind, Jimmy Butler is going to be a free agent next summer. Didn’t get an extension done. The Warriors, as you know, have interest there and I think probably made a couple calls during the summer. That name comes to mind.” Amick said in a recent episode of “The TK Show” with Tim Kawakami.
After Klay Thompson left the team in the offseason, the Warriors were in search of a star player to support Curry. They almost signed Paul George, but the nine-time NBA All-Star declined the Warriors’ offer and chose to sign with the Philadelphia 76ers instead.
A Look at Stephen Curry and Jimmy Butler’s Performance in the Recent NBA Season
During the 2023-24 NBA season, Stephen Curry, widely considered the greatest shooter of all time, showcased outstanding skills. The 36-year-old scored a season-high 60 points in a 141–134 overtime loss to the Atlanta Hawks in February this year. The four-time NBA champion averaged 26.4 points, 5.1 assists, and 4.5 rebounds in 74 games during the season. He was also selected to play in his tenth All-Star game and received the 2023–24 NBA Clutch Player of the Year Award.
Meanwhile, Jimmy Butler delivered impressive performances for the Heat, including a buzzer-beating, game-winning stepback jumper in a 118–116 win over the Chicago Bulls on December 16. However, the six-time NBA All-Star missed the NBA playoffs due to a medial collateral ligament sprain he suffered during a play-in game against the Philadelphia 76ers.
