During a recent episode of the “All The Smoke podcast”, Veteran point guard Rajon Rondo officially announced his retirement after playing 16 seasons in the NBA.
Prior to his nine-year stay with the Boston Celtics from 2006 to 2015, Rondo was considered one of the NBA’s top point guards. His role in the Celtics’ 2008 championship win was notable.
Rondo was traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers in the middle of the season and split his time between the two clubs in 2021–22. In 21 games with the Cavaliers, he averaged 19.4 minutes, 6.2 points, 4.9 assists, 2.8 rebounds, and 1.1 three-pointers. He also shot 42.9% from the field and 39.7% from behind the arc.

In addition to four All-Star Game appearances and four All-Defensive Team selections, Rondo owns two assists leader titles and one steals leader championship.

Rondo did not sign a contract for the seasons 2022–2023 or 2023–2024, thereby terminating his playing career.
After leaving Boston, Rondo went on to play for the Dallas Mavericks, Sacramento Kings, Chicago Bulls, New Orleans Pelicans, Lakers, Atlanta Hawks, Los Angeles Clippers, and Cavaliers.
Throughout the 2019–20 season, he averaged 8.9 points, 6.6 assists, 4.3 rebounds, 1.4 steals, and 1.3 three-pointers per game in the playoffs, his best performance to date.
Rondo’s career was amazing. Rondo said in that interview that he wanted to spend the rest of his life with his children. However, if Rondo chooses to be an NBA coach, then he will be the best at that job.
